Surfing is a natural part of Queensland way of life and we attended as soon as we landed. However, we were given the visual proof only now, as fellow surfers send some evidence.

For Johannes, the waves did seem like massive mountains of fierce marine wrath, buth for some they were mere pique-nique dribbles. |

Riding it in style. |

A brief glimpse makes it look like an innocent and non-disturbing hobby, but at the last moment the eye is drawn to the upper right... |

And yes, it is a bare bottom! A lesson learned, always tighten your waistband properly before jumping on! |
But falling or getting exposed while trying is not a shame as it takes practice to master any skill. Some start very early and at one beach we eye-witnessed a small toddler, maybe two years old holding a tiny body board. He/she was clad in a full-body wet suit (with wet diapers tucked in) with swimming glasses and a determined pose. Walking was still a new thing for the little fellow but he padded firmly onwards to the sea until the remnants of the splashes reached his navel. Then he waited, holding the board firmly in his grip in front of him. He judged the white foams and just at the right moment turned to the beach and flapped onto the passing foam smiling while gliding with the ocean towards the shoreline. Touching land, he then briskly got up to his flailing limbs holding the board (properly attached to his right wrist), faced the ocean and started again. Marvellous.
Saatiin viimein valokuvat norjalaisilta!
