Tokyo consists of numerous "special wards", small cities that form Tokyo. One day it was raining so we started from Edo-Tokyo museum in Ryogoku.
The museum is quite large and has massive miniatures of the old city. Besides those, it tells surprisingly little about the history. At least in English.
A lot of miniatures. |
The night soil replica was of special interest to the environmental engineer in our family.
Japan was looking towards Europe before WW |
Famicon! |
Next, the Totoro shop! There was also a Muumin-shop next to it!
Shopping in a trolley. |
Then a stroll at the royal palace park. The district was, well, very calm.
Large empty streets. |
Next day we went to Shinjuku.
Train stations had a lot of people. |
We went to check out a huge department store.
It was opening time, and green tea was served for people waiting. |
Scent of Scandinavia-brand. Kippis is Finnish for "cheers". |
The city hall in Shinjuku has a free observation deck!
That's the destination. |
