Ostamisen sietämätön keveys

Brisbanessa käydään ostareilla enemmän kuin Tampereella. Niitä on isoja ja isompia, osa on tarkoitettu rahvaalle ja osa eliitille ja niihin kaikkiin mennään yleensä autolla.

Vaivaantuneet herrat kadulla.

Me suuntasimme tutkimaan halpisostaria, Direct Factory Outletia, joka on jättimäinen halli lentokentän kupeessa. Siellä oli paljon tavallisia ihmisiä normaaleissa kaupunkivaatteissaan. Hallissa oli parisen sataa (!) merkkiliikettä, jotka lupasivat kaikki jotain halvalla.

Honom.

Osa liikkeistä ei ollut halpoja. Toinen retonki puoleen hintaan.

Suurin osa lupasi JOPA 70 % alennuksia. Parhaimmissa oli oikeastikin kaikki puoleen hintaan.

Kertakäyttöastioita ja virvoitusjuomia.

Toisena päivänä piipahdimme normaalihintaiseen ostoskeskukseen Indooroopillyssä. Jättimäisestä kompleksista kuitenkin esim. kengänpohjallisten löytäminen oli lähes mahdotonta, vaikka kenkäkauppoja on tusinoittain.

Hienoja kakkuja.

Liian söpö syötäväksi.

Hieno hedelmätarjonta. Tomaatit oli yksittäiskääritty paperiin.

Hinnat kohdillaan. Persikat kaksikymppiä kilo.

Tuttu suomalainen sananlasku.
Suomalainen sananlasku osuu asiaan. Paitsi ettei sitä oikein tahdo löytyä suomeksi. Googlen paras osuma on amerikkalaisen taikurin suusta:
"Onni on seisake liian paljon ja liian vähän välillä." - Channing Pollock.

Ostarit eivät tuo onnea. Onneksemme kotimme vieressä on Gabba fruit market -hedelmähalli, joka myy tukkuhinnoilla hedelmiä ja vähän muutakin.

Kurpitsat ovat peloittavan suuria.

Ämpäreittäin kasvikset ovat vielä halvempia. Taustalla häämöttää kahvikone (ah) ja lavallinen trendijuoma kookosvettä.

Viimeisen päivän vihannekset myydään sekalaisissa viiden dollarin laatikoissa.

Onni on seisake!

Signs of life

There are a lot of signs in our neighbourhood. Restaurants have signs with witty remarks:

Yes!

This generous offer can be found outside a restaurant just next to our place:

Don't mind if I do, thank you.

There are a lot of signs for traffic:

It's mandatory to have a bell, lights and a helmet. Fine is $110.

Cars have the priority. Pedestrians beware!

Look and run!

Long queues of cars come to take kids to and from school. Stopping before dropping is critical.

Short term parking at train stations: Kiss your beloved ones, dump them and ride away.

Johannes has a concession card and must not occupy seats whilst adults are standing.

Dogs can be penalized.

The rebel.

Tag them back.

This sticker can't be authentic, it must be a well placed joke!

A place to study the meaning of life of high confederate officers.

A sign of care. Don't jump off the bridge!

These two ads deserve to be presented as well:

Do you have something you need to sell?

Remember to cover your beard!

Be instructed and prosper!

To the park!

Parks play a central role in Brisbanean life. They are not just places of nature but of action and socializing.

A frequent free concert brings people together.

Taking the citycat from South Bank to the city centre, you see barbeques and rock climbing on the right and the botanical gardens on the left. The city centre is behind the botanical.

Different park areas can be rented for events.

People play in the parks. This is cricket.

We went relaxing at an autumn pilates in the park.

Not relaxing any more.

Picnic in the whites. Don't spill the coffee!

How many hats and legs does this sleeper have?

There is spying in the park.

This time a wedding occurred!

And another one, just next to it! The boy likes the first one better.

Kids are allowed to roll free!

Except when tied down with a unicorn harness.

There are very large trees in the parks. Andemaar is measuring.

Also very tall trees.

Fortunately good coffee is served in most parks.

Also cash is available.

People are not worried about wildlife.

These kookaburras try hard to look innocent.

But are they really?

Enjoy your parks!
